Our Review – The Nutrisystem Weight Loss Program

Nutrisystem is one of several diet programs that are based on meals of prepackaged food.  Now, that makes planning and preparing meals simple.  It does away with the guesswork on portion sizes, calories, and carbs.  You don’t even have to fret over calculating how many points you have used up every time you take a bite of food.  This type of weight loss program typically has a decent success rate, because it’s easy and convenient. 

There are a couple of little problems with this type of program, however…the food and the cost.

Take the food, for instance.  Sure, you get to eat fun things like pizza, burgers, and macaroni and cheese.  But, come on!  Compare the Nutrisystem pizza or burger to one that you might prepare from scratch at home.  Compare them to a pizza or burger you might order at your favorite restaurant.  I think you’ll discover that the Nutrisystem foods are simply not as good.  Once you remove a lot of fat and calories from such dishes, you also remove much of the flavor. 

It is possible that you could get used to eating the Nutrisystem diet foods and even learn to enjoy them.  However, it’s more likely that you’ll just get tired of eating them and fall off your diet.

Then, there’s the cost issue.  At around $300 per month, the price to participate in the Nutrisystem Program might put a strain on the family budget…especially in today’s economy.  If money is no object, then cost won’t be a big issue.  However, when you factor the money you would spend on food if you were not on the plan, the cost is really not that much.

The Nutrisystem Weight Loss Program, like so many other diet plans, works fairly well in the beginning.  It works well for as long as you are willing to stick with it.  In the long term, though, most people give up and drop out of the program.
