Eating A Sensible Diet Can Change Your Life

Do you have a weight problem that has kept you from living your life to the fullest?  Have you given up your favorite activities due to a negative self-image?  Do you avoid social engagements or taking trips because you hate your body?  Think about what you’re missing out on!  It’s time to turn your life around and start living again!  You may begin by first realizing how eating a sensible diet can positively change your life for good!

Typically, weight gain is caused by consuming more calories than the body burns.  In our sedentary society, with all the high-calorie, high-fat snacks and meals consumed, it is no wonder that obesity continues to be a real problem.  If you are among the overweight, you are not alone!  But, it doesn’t have to be that way.  You can regain control of your eating habits and your life, as well.  Take action now!  Leave behind the fried foods, the fast foods, the excess sugar and salt.  Find a sensible diet that works for you and stick with it.

My Weight Loss Story

I know this can be done!  You see, I’ve been there, too.  When I was pregnant with my last child, I gained over 50 pounds…which, for my short stature, is a LOT of weight!  After the baby was born, I was appalled by what I saw staring back at me from my mirror.  I had to wear either my maternity clothes or clothing that was several sizes larger than I wore prior to my pregnancy.  This went on for months and months.  I couldn’t seem to lose the “baby fat.” 

I stayed home most of the time, and when I did go out, I felt very conspicuous.  My self-esteem reached an all-time low, and I did not like myself very much.  Something had to be done, I decided!  I couldn’t keep living this way!  That’s when I started focusing more on the foods I ate and began a regular exercise program. 

Eating a sensible, balanced diet became a way of life for me.  The pounds didn’t magically fall off overnight, but they did begin to fall off.  My self-confidence improved.  I enjoyed socializing more.  The best part is that I never gained the weight back after I reached my desired weight!  Years later, I am still conscious of what I eat, and I no longer have a weight problem.

What IS a Sensible Diet?

There are several diet plans that are healthy and sensible.  Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and the Medifast Diet Plan are a few really good, sensible diet plans.  Such diet plans are realistic…They can be followed for a lifetime without any devastating effects.

If you do not wish to join an organized weight loss program, then try eating balanced meals in smaller portions.  Refer to the U.S.D.A. Food Pyramid to find out how many daily servings of each food group are recommended.  Be aware of the calories you consume at each meal.  Eat slowly and let your stomach tell you when it has had enough.  Then, stop eating. 

Remember that a sensible diet is one that is realistic, healthy, and doable.  Always be conscious of what foods go into your mouth.  If you should slip occasionally, don’t beat yourself up.  Let go of the guilt and get right back on track.  In fact, enjoy treats now and then…but in small amounts and with total awareness. 

Conscious, sensible eating can and should become a lifetime habit.  It can lead to weight loss, more self-confidence, a more active social life, and happiness!  It can change your life!
