Lose
Weight and Shape Up on an Elliptical Trainer (Even
if You're Over 40)
I've
been an advocate of exercise and fitness for many years now. I've tried a gazillion
types of workout routines and fitness equipment. (Okay, maybe that's a bit of
an exaggeration
but, you get the point!) One of the most efficient fitness
machines out there for losing weight and getting in shape is the elliptical trainer!
What makes
the elliptical trainer so efficient? This machine is designed to work both the
upper and lower body simultaneously. When you engage your arms and legs at the
same time, you burn more calories in less time. The more calories you burn, the
more likely you're going to lose those extra pounds. (And, the elliptical trainer
is low-impact, too!) Now,
I don't know about you, but I rather like the idea of getting more out of my daily
exercise routine, without investing more time. When
your goal is to lose weight and shape up, even if you're over 40, there are a
variety of ways to reach that goal. The elliptical trainer is definitely one way
that I recommend trying! How
to Get the Most Out of Your Elliptical Trainer Workout - Set
the resistance level as high as your level of fitness will comfortably allow.
The higher the resistance, the more effort your muscles will exert, and the more
calories your body will burn.
- Work
out for a minimum of twenty minutes during each exercise session to pump up your
heart rate and keep it up. Not only will you build lean, muscle tissue, but your
cardiovascular health will also improve.
- As
your level of fitness improves, increase the resistance level and the workout
time. You'll soon discover that you have more endurance and more muscle mass.
Note: muscle tissue burns calories more efficiently than fat tissue does, thus
improving your metabolic efficiency! The better your metabolism, the easier it
is to lose weight and keep it off!
I
realize that the elliptical trainer isn't the ideal weight-loss method for everyone.
But, if you get the opportunity, I highly suggest that you at least try one out!
Once you're over forty, low-impact exercises become more and more appealing! Cyndi
